custom MSU clip

i get excited when people convo me regarding an etsy item and would like me to alter it a bit. it's a fun challenge and nice change of pace.

a few weeks ago a mom asked if i could make her a clip for her daughter that was similar to this one:


but would instead be green felt with white border stitching and uppercase "MSU" letters for michigan state! her husband goes there and she wanted her daughter to wear the clip to the MSU games. how cute is that? way to show school spirit.

i was really pleased with how it turned out even though it took a while to get the letters just right. i first printed off some letters using arial bold font on cardstock, cut them out and then traced them onto white felt. it took a few tries to get the font size right because they all needed to fit onto the little clip but not overlap the white stitch border. then i just used a little border stitch to attach the letters - little teeny tiny stitches - so that they would be secure and not look crooked.



i was tickled when she wrote back and said that she loved it and couldn't wait to surprise her husband with it! go msu! :)
